DANVILLE, Ky. – After playing nine out of their first ten games away from home, Centre volleyball finally returned to Alumni Gym to host the Hanover Panthers. The Colonels pushed the Panthers to extra points in the third set, but lost in straight sets.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Panthers gradually built their lead in the first set, utilizing a pair of 5-0 runs to break it open and win by a score of 25-14.
- The second set was closely contested all the way, with neither team leading by more than four points the entire way. Centre built its biggest lead at 18-14 before Hanover answered with their biggest rally of the set, scoring the final six points to win 25-21.
- In the third set, Hanover jumped out to an early lead and kept it throughout, but Centre responded with a 7-2 run late in the contest to tie the score at 22-22. The two teams alternated the next four points, with
Savanna Roper's kill forcing the set into extra points at 24-24, but the Panthers closed it out with blocks on the final two points to take a 26-24 win.

Alice Rodgerson led the way for Centre with ten kills in the match.

Meredith Phillips finished with 26 of the Colonels' 29 assists, one shy of a game high.

Peyton Vacala finished with a game high 23 digs, while Rodgerson added a dozen of her own.
NEXT UP
The Centre volleyball team will return to action this weekend with a pair of conference games in Georgia, starting with a match at Oglethorpe on Saturday.
