Colonels get their first conference win in 6-0 shutout

ATLANTA, Ga. – Centre women's soccer (11-0, 1-0 SAA) displayed a full team effort on the road against conference rival Oglethorpe (7-1, 0-1 SAA) on Friday night, blanking the Petrels 6-0 to earn their first conference win of the season. Playing predominantly in Oglethorpe's defensive half, the Colonels had an electric second half, scoring four times in a span of four minutes.

HIGHLIGHTS

- From the starting whistle, Centre had the Oglethorpe defense on their toes, outshooting the Petrels 14-1 in the first half. In the 16th minute, junior Sarah Sirkin opened the scoring when she corralled a pass from Alana Hughes and launched a shot past the goalie, netting her third goal of the season.
- Five minutes into the 2nd half, Cameron Zak delivered a beautiful free kick to Hughes who shot up the middle through multiple defenders to get a solid touch on the ball and into the back of the net.
- Less than a minute later, a dangerous Petrel touch fell to Hughes, who sent the ball to Sirkin. With the goalie coming out too far, there was a clear lane for Sirkin's second goal of the evening.
- With a long clearance down the left, a Petrel defender couldn't control it as she turned around which left an opening for Sirkin to break through and have a great run to the net completing her hat trick.

- 54 seconds later, Rilee Britton recorded her first assist this season when a cross connected with Hughes for a glorious header out of reach of the goalie.

- To close out the scoring, senior Hannah Bandura slipped a pass through multiple Petrels to sophomore Taylor Gebhart who completed the finish for the Colonels' sixth and final goal.
