HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Jimmy Mills Tournament was a rousing success for the Centre men's soccer team as the Colonels shut out their second opponent in as many days, defeating the TCNJ Lions by a score of 4-0.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels brimmed with confidence after defeating no. 20 Haverford yesterday, and it showed at the start of the match as Centre came out the aggressors, earning five corner kicks in the first 12 minutes of action.
- With nine minutes gone by, Royce Pope found Dylan Barth for the first goal of the afternoon and a sign of things to come for Barth.
- Centre continued to pound away at the Lions with shot after shot, and their aggressive play paid off when Alexander Garuba scored 26 minutes in – his third of the season and second of the Jimmy Mills Tournament – to put the Colonels up 2-0.
- TCNJ had a brief flurry of shots and corner kicks at the end of the half, but none approached the net as the Colonels held onto their two-goal lead.
- The Colonels went up 3-0 as Barth scored his second goal of the contest off the tandem assist from Nick Mazzarella and Will Newton.
- With just over 12 minutes remaining, Nathan Wilcox scored the final goal of the day off a Garuba assist to put Centre up 4-0 and put the finishing touches on a decisive victory.

- Centre controlled today's game in every way, finishing with advantages of 21-6 in shots, 12-2 in shots on goal and 10-4 in corner kicks.
- Tate Johnson saved both Lions scoring attempts that headed his way, locking down his second consecutive shutout.
