Yellow Jackets stymie Colonels in second half comeback

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's lacrosse fell by 13-7 margin Saturday afternoon, seeing a halftime lead vanish against visiting Baldwin Wallace at South Turf Field.
 
The Colonels (0-3) were held scoreless for over 20 minutes in the second half as the Yellow Jackets (2-0) reeled off six unanswered goals to take control. Baldwin Wallace's defense limited Centre to just six total shots across the final period.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
- The visitors opened the scoring just 70 seconds in, but a nip-and-tuck first half saw the two sides trading scores.
- After missing the last game due to injury, Bella Tacogue made her presence known with Centre's first score of afternoon on an assist from Marina Burke.
- Madeleine Longmeyer scored her first collegiate goal soon after to give Centre a slight 2-1 lead.
- A goal from Mary Katherine Hardy and two more from Sloan Reding put the Colonels up 5-4 at the halftime break.
- Baldwin Wallace stifled Centre for much of the second half, and scored three straight goals within a 44-second stretch to regain the lead.
- The Yellow Jackets went on to score six in a row, out-scoring the Colonels 9-2 in the second half.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Baldwin Wallace finished with a 13-9 advantage in draw controls, including an 8-4 edge in the second half.
- Reding recorded her second hat trick of the season for the Colonels, and Tacogue added two goals.
- Hardy and McKenna Hulette each led Centre with five ground balls, and Hardy also led the team with four caused turnovers.
