NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's tennis fell 9-0 against No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Friday afternoon, opening action at the ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championship at the Top Seed Tennis Club.
As site hosts, the Colonels (2-5) drew the highest ranked team in the field in the Athenas (8-0), who took control in doubles action and never looked back.
HIGHLIGHTS
- CMS dropped just two games across the three doubles matches.
Ella Rueff and
Grace Headley took a game off of the regionally-ranked tandem of Sarah Bahsoun and Nicole Tan at No. 3, but fell 8-1.
- The Athenas' singles lineup featured three nationally-ranked individuals, including Division III's second-ranked player in Catherine Allen. Centre's
Katharine Sherman fell to Allen, 6-1, 6-0 in No. 1 singles.

Caroline Stallings battled 20th-ranked Rebecca Berger, falling 6-0, 6-1. Rookie
Lainey Hill met 47th-ranked Sydney Lee, dropping the match 6-2, 6-0.
