ATLANTA – Earlier today the Southern Athletic Association released its postseason awards for the 2019-20 women's basketball season and four players from Centre College earned all-conference distinctions.
Senior
Kat Wilson was voted First Team All-SAA by the league's coaches after earning Second Team honors each of the past two seasons. Wilson was the first Centre player to be named All-SAA First Team since Alexis Guy in 2015-16. Wilson ranked in the top ten in the conference in five statistical categories, including points, field goal percentage and three-point percentage. She also led the conference in free throw percentage at 89.9 percent, ranking in the top ten in the nation in that category. Wilson hit 1,000 career points in the regular season finale against Sewanee, the first such milestone for Centre women's basketball since 2016.
The Colonels had a trio of players earn All-SAA Honorable Mention. Junior
Abigail Wehby picked up the honors for the second season in a row after leading the league in both assists and assist/turnover ratio. Wehby played a more aggressive style at the point guard position in 2019-20 and scored in double figures eight times. Wehby was selected to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week on Dec. 1 after averaging 18 points and eight assists across two games, recording a career high 18 points against Spalding and a career high 12 assists the following game against Hanover.
Senior
Mikayla Fee was a first time All-SAA Honorable Mention selection. Fee had a breakthrough senior season in 2019-10, scoring in double figures ten times, including a stretch of five out of six games, all Centre victories. Fee had five double doubles on the year, racking up career highs with 14 rebounds in Centre's victory over Hood in Daytona Beach and 18 points in Centre's win over Hendrix on Jan. 24.
The final All-SAA Honorable Mention went to another first time honoree, junior
Madison Marcum. After battling a wrist injury in the early part of the season, Marcum recovered and so did her three-point shooting touch, as she made multiple threes in 14 games during her junior season. Marcum's hottest stretch came in mid-January as she set a new program record with seven made three-pointers, scoring a career high 21 points in Centre's win over Berry on Jan. 10. In addition, Marcum played lockdown defense all year, often drawing the assignment of the best opposing guard.
