NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's tennis wrapped up action at the ITA Division III National Women's Team Indoor Championship Sunday evening, nearly knocking off 10th-ranked Brandeis before falling by a 5-4 margin at the Top Seed Tennis Club.
The Colonels slide to 2-7 overall, having faced their fifth nationally ranked opponent in a row and third top-10 foe. The Judges improve to 1-4 with their first victory of the season.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre took a 2-1 advantage after doubles action, beginning at No. 3 where
Grace Headley and
Ella Rueff toppled Grace Wang and Summer Quinn, 8-2.

Caroline Stallings and
Lainey Hill gave Centre the edge with an 8-5 win against Isabel Cepeda and Rachel Zubrinsky at No. 2 doubles.
- Rueff made quick work of Wang to give Centre its first singles point with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5.
- Bouncing back from an injury that kept her sidelined the last two matches,
Hannah Doherty recovered with a 6-4, 6-2 win against Zubrinsky at No. 3 singles.
- With the match tied 4-4, all eyes fell to court six, where
Caroline Lancaster and Summer Quinn were vying for the match-clinching point. Quinn ultimately rallied for the decisive victory in three sets, 6-7, 6-4, 6-1.
