GAMBIER, Ohio – Centre men's lacrosse dropped a defensive battle Saturday afternoon against Kenyon, falling by a 6-4 margin at the Field at Benson Bowl.
The Colonels fall to 2-3 overall, with the three losses coming by a combined four goals. The host Lords improve to 5-0 with the victory.
Connor Jongewaard continued his impressive play between the pipes, recording 14 saves despite the loss.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Although there were eight combined shots on goal in the opening quarter, Centre's
Nic Malubay was the only one able to find the back of the net off an assist from Duncan McDonald.
- The 1-0 score seemed likely to hold until halftime, but a pair of late goals – one from
John Morrison and another from Kenyon's Will Robbins – made it a 2-1 lead for Centre at the break.
- After converting just one of their 20 shots in the first half, the Lords' efficiency increased throughout the third and fourth quarters.

Anthony DiMichele momentarily put Centre up 3-1 early in the third, but Kenyon reeled off four unanswered to flip the two-goal deficit into a two-goal lead.

Will Hubbs brought Centre within 5-4 in the fourth, but Kenyon's Will Harrington helped seal the win with a late score of his own.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Kenyon claimed 8 of 14 faceoffs, although the Colonels took all three in the fourth quarter.
- Centre went empty on five man-up opportunities, including two in the final period.
