HANOVER, Ind. – Centre volleyball saw its six-game win streak come to an end on Thursday night at the hands of the Hanover Panthers. After a wild Centre comeback in the opening set, Hanover rebounded to take the next three and the match.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels dug themselves a big hole to start the night as they surrendered the first four points of the opening set. Centre stayed close, but Hanover built the margin and eventually took a 24-17 lead.
Isabel Thornton had two kills and
Brooke Palmer provided a block and a kill in a run that saw Centre fend off set point seven straight times. Hanover would score the next point, but
Emily Goddin would put home kills on two of the next three points to give the Colonels an improbable victory.
- In the second set, Hanover had their strongest attack of the night as they hit .393 as a team and pulled away to a 25-11 win.
- The Colonels got off to a hot start in the third set but Hanover chipped away and finally pulled ahead late at 23-21. The Colonels fought back and would fend off two set points on kills from Thornton and
Ellie Driver to tie the score at 25-25, but the Panthers scored the final two to take the lead with a 27-25 win.
- Hanover again grabbed the early lead in the fourth set and forced Centre to play from behind as they took their largest lead at 18-11. The Colonels pulled to within a point on two separate occasions, but could get no closer as the Panthers scored the final five points to take a 25-19 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Thornton led all players with 16 kills, tying a career high she set in the previous game against Birmingham-Southern. Goddin added ten kills for another career high.

Emily Gardner led the Colonels with 20 assists, while
Meredith Phillips added 13.

Madi Barron led Centre with 28 digs, with Palmer and
June Padilla each adding a dozen.

The final road trip of the regular season will continue into the weekend for Centre volleyball as the Colonels head to Georgia to battle no. 15 Berry.
