BALTIMORE – Centre field hockey went toe-to-toe with No. 5 Bowdoin in the NCAA Tournament, but ultimately fell by a 1-0 score Saturday at Homewood Field at Johns Hopkins University.
The Colonels' season comes to a close with a 15-4 overall record, having reached the program's fourth Sweet 16.
The Polar Bears improve to 16-4 overall and will compete in the Elite Eight Sunday.

Sienna Joseph, the hero of Centre's 2-1 win Wednesday over No. 17 Christopher Newport, came up with three first-quarter saves to deny a Bowdoin goal.
- Centre managed two penalty corners and subsequent shots in the opening frame, but both were blocked.
- Bowdoin took advantage of a Colonel green card in the second quarter, as Abby Bashaw scored to make it 1-0.
- The Colonels were held without a shot or penalty corner throughout the third and fourth quarters as the Polar Bears held on for the win.

- Centre became just the fifth team to limit Bowdoin to one goal. The Polar Bears entered the game averaging nearly four goals per contest and score nine in Wednesday's NCAA opener against Eastern Connecticut State.
