ATLANTA - All throughout the 2021-22 athletics season, the Southern Athletic Association will be releasing their top individuals, teams and moments in commemoration of the conference's tenth anniversary. The next honoree from Centre College is football alumnus Jordan Gay '13, who made the SAA's top moments list after making a 53-man NFL roster in 2014.
Jordan Gay was the first player from the SAA era to appear in an NFL game as he made the 53-man roster for the Buffalo Bills during the 2014 season as a kickoff specialist and punter.
Gay, who was an All-American punter for the Colonels in 2012, signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent and also spent time with the New York Giants before landing with Buffalo for the 2014 season.
Gay was the first Centre player to make an NFL roster since Kris Garrett in 1997 with the Tennessee Oilers and was the first Centre player to play in an NFL game since Ken Willis, who kicked for the Dallas Cowboys in the early 1990s.
