Centre rebounds with narrow 5-4 victory at Millsaps

JACKSON, Miss. – After dropping Saturday's contest, Centre women's tennis bounced back to defeat Millsaps, 5-4, in Sunday's non-conference meeting.
 
The Colonels and Majors both finish the weekend with 3-1 overall records.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre, which lost all three doubles bouts Saturday, claimed two to carry a 2-1 advantage over to singles action.
- At No. 3, Hannah Doherty and Elizabeth Joiner defeated, Camille Landry and Madison Williams, 8-3. Katharine Sherman and Ella Rueff followed with an 8-5 win against Jillian Sandoz and Morgan Jenkins at No. 1.
- Caroline Stallings won her No. 2 singles match against Jenkins, 6-2, 6-1, remaining a perfect 4-0 on solo matches this spring.
- Lainey Hill finished next at No. 1 singles, where she edged out Marissa Brown, 7-6(3), 6-3, marking her first victory on court one this season.
- With Centre totaling four points overall, Caroline Lancaster pushed the Colonels across the finish line with a come-from-behind win at No. 3 singles against Morris Kelly Clayton. She dropped the opening set, 1-6, before rallying to win the second, 6-2, and the tiebreak, 10-8. Like Stallings, she is a perfect 4-0 in singles matches this spring.
 
UP NEXT
Centre is home for the first time this spring next weekend, hosting Birmingham-Southern for a pair of matches Saturday and Sunday.
