DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre softball had a Senior Day for the ages Saturday, completing a doubleheader sweep over Hendrix by scores of 10-0 and 3-2.
The two memorable victories move Centre's record to 3-11 overall and 3-6 in the Southern Athletic Association. Hendrix falls to 1-7 (0-5 SAA).
Prior to the games, Centre honored the careers of
Melissa Collins,
Sarah Fly,
Haley Simon and
Rachel Skinner.
GAME ONE: Centre 10, Hendrix 0 (5 inn.)
- Fly and Collins began the game with a flourish in the bottom of the first, both bringing in a pair of runs. Fly drove in two with a single to center while Collins smacked a homerun over the left field fence.
- Collins brought in Simon in the third with single to right field.
Hailey Watson followed with a bases-loaded groundout that plated Fly. Skinner then singled to left, scoring Collins and
Riley McCue.
Brylin Isaacs capped the big inning with a double to right field that scored Skinner.
- After leading off the fourth with a double down the left field line, Fly eventually crossed home on a wild pitch.

Amanda Morgan earned her first winning decision of the season, allowing three hits while striking out six. She faced only three above the minimum and allowed just one runner to reach scoring position.
- Isaacs, Fly and Collins each finished with multiple hits.
GAME TWO: Centre 3, Hendrix 2
- Hendrix struck first in Saturday's second game, plating a pair of runs in the opening inning.
- After allowing those first two runs,
Lucy Baseheart settled in and ended up tossing 3.1 while surrendering six hits.
- Centre was held without a hit through the opening five innings by Hendrix starter Hailey Johnston, but finally got to her in the sixth as Collins delivered a two-out RBI double that scored
Alana Fullen.
- Facing a 2-1 deficit in the seventh, the Colonels got some late game heroics from Skinner. After
Mia Tomillo was hit by a pitch, Skinner launched a
walk-off homerun over the left field fence to end the contest.

Andrea Searcy relieved Baseheart for Centre, totaling 3.2 innings pitched while scattering just three hits and fanning three batters.
