LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's soccer took advantage of a unique opportunity Wednesday, traveling to take on Louisville City FC in a friendly match at the professional team's training grounds.
Louisville City FC was founded in 2014 and is a member of the USL Championship league. Despite its relatively short existence, the club has claimed two league titles and three conference crowns.
It was the second time in recent seasons Centre was able to face professional competition after the team's 2019 trip to Italy. That overseas tour was the preamble to a historic 2019 campaign which saw Centre advance to the NCAA Final Four.
The Colonels have started the modified 2021 spring schedule 1-0 after a comeback victory Monday at Spalding, and continue this Sunday against regional rival DePauw at 2 p.m. in Greencastle, Ind.
