Dawson Crump erupted for 38 points Sunday afternoon, but the Centre men's basketball squad fell by an 89-74 margin on the road at Hendrix inside Grove Coliseum.
With the win, the Warriors (6-4) claim the final spot in the Southern Athletic Association Tournament while the Colonels (3-5) see their season come to a close.
Crump's heroic effort was a career high, coming on the strength of a 6-for-11 effort from long range. He added six rebounds and three assists while shooting 13 of 26 overall.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Hendrix jumped out to a quick 13-2 lead, and was up 23-10 with six minutes remaining in the half as Centre got off to a slow start on offense.
- The Colonels closed the period on a strong 17-8 run, with Crump scoring 13 during the stretch.
- A pair of free throws from
RJ Smith brought Centre back within one, 39-38, early in the second half.
- The Warriors went on a 10-0 run in response, however, and pulled away despite 20 second-half points from Crump.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Crump's 38 topped his previous career high of 32, set earlier this season against Berry.

Dustin Gerald finished with 11 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal. Smith and
Jalen Williams each recorded nine points, while the former led Centre with seven rebounds.
- Hendrix shot nearly 50% (30-61) overall in the win, and went 16 of 21 from the free throw line in the second half.
