DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's tennis claimed a hard-fought 5-0 victory Saturday morning against Berry, competing inside the Seabury Family Tennis Center.
The Colonels improve to 5-6 overall and 4-1 in the Southern Athletic Association following the win, which was played to decision due to inclement weather. The visiting Vikings slide to 7-3 overall and 2-3 in-conference.
Centre celebrated the career of senior
Arpit Rana, who went on to contribute two crucial victories.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Rana and
Bo Bush kept their prolific spring season rolling in an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles against Carsten Balao and Kyle Lution. The two are 7-1 this year as a duo.
- At No. 2 doubles,
Matthew Bulow and
Danny Nelson won by a similar 8-3 margin against Diego Lopez and Drayton Matus.
- Rory Glatt and Ben Knight of Berry put up a fight in No. 3 doubles, but
Ashton Whitt and
Faraz Ghamgosar held on for an 8-5 win to give Centre a 3-0 advantage,
- Rana and Glatt went toe-to-toe in No. 1 singles, but the Centre senior came away with a 6-4, 6-4 decision to put the home team on the brink of an overall team win.
- Whitt closed the door on the Vikings at No. 2 singles, defeating Lopez 7-6 (0), 7-5, for his team-leading sixth singles win of the season.
