MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Centre men's tennis earned a spot in the Southern Athletic Association Tournament Championship for the first time ever Saturday, defeating Rhodes, 5-1, in the semifinal round.
The Colonels (8-7) capitalized on a doubles advantage against the Lynx (7-6), much like they did in last week's regular season meeting between the two sides. This time, however, they finished the job on the singles courts to make program history.
HIGHLIGHTS

Matthew Bulow and
Danny Nelson opened the scoring for Centre at No. 2 doubles, defeating Andrew Morton and Ted Hall, 8-3. It was the duo's third win in a row and they improved to 5-2 this spring.

Arpit Rana and
Bo Bush continued their strong spring season, defeating Daniel Trudell and Alex Lloyd at No. 1, 8-6, moving to 9-2 as a team.

Faraz Ghamgosar and
Ashton Whitt extended their doubles winning streak to a team-high six matches, gutting out an 8-7 (6) win against David Phillips and Gabe Williams at No. 3.
- Rhodes claimed a point early during singles action, but Whitt added one for Centre at No. 2 in a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Lloyd. His victory gave him a team-high eight singles triumphs this spring.
- Ghamgosar was involved in another battle in his No. 3 singles match against Williams. He eventually won in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, clinching Centre's spot in Sunday's finale.
UP NEXT
Centre faces top-seeded Oglethorpe Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. The Colonels narrowly defeated the Stormy Petrels, 5-4, in the regular season opener.
