DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's lacrosse saw its historic 2021 season come to a close Sunday, falling to No. 16 Colorado College by a 19-6 margin inside Farris Stadium.
After winning the program's first ever NCAA Tournament game Saturday – and becoming the first school in Kentucky to win a men's lacrosse NCAA Tournament contest – the Colonels couldn't keep up as the Tigers started strong and never looked back.
Centre ends the year 12-2 overall while Colorado College moves onto the national quarterfinals with a 13-3 mark.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Miscues haunted the Colonels early in the game, as they had eight turnovers and just two shots through the opening quarter. The Tigers led 7-1 after one period goal, with
Ridr Knowlton providing the lone Centre score.

Chase Poplin score midway through the second and Knowlton added another late before the halftime break, but the Tigers' efficient offense had them ahead 15-3.
- The second half proved to be more statistically even, but the Tigers' lead was never threatened.
- Poplin tallied his second goal on a man-up opportunity in the third quarter, and
Nic Malubay scored twice in the fourth.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Colorado College overwhelmed the possession battle Sunday, winning 20 of 29 faceoffs and out-pacing Centre 60-23 in shots and 34-18 in ground balls.
