Centre volleyball sweeps Berea for third straight win

DANVILLE, Ky. – After recording a tri-match sweep over the weekend, the Centre volleyball team defeated the Berea Mountaineers in Alumni Gym on Tuesday night. All three sets were close, but all three went to the Colonels as Centre improved to 7-1 on the year.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- The opening set was tightly contested, with neither team leading by more than four points the most of the way. Centre broke through with a run of four straight, with three of the points coming from Katie Hall kills, and then held on for a 25-21 win as Ellie Driver put home the finishing swing.
- In the second set, both teams again played nip and tuck volleyball, with Centre holding a small lead in the early stages before Berea took an 18-16 advantage. The Colonels battled back to tie the score and there were four ties in the final portion of the set, which Centre eventually won by a score of 25-23.
- Centre grabbed a quick 4-0 lead in the third set, but the Mountaineers battled back to tie the score, and although they managed to tie it three times, the Colonels held on for their second straight 25-23 win and their third straight victory overall.

- Hall and Brooke Palmer led a balanced Centre scoring attack with 12 kills each.
- Meredith Phillips led all players with 37 assists, four more than Berea had as a team.
