ATLANTA – Centre men's basketball fell by a 85-69 score Sunday at Oglethorpe, competing inside the Dorough Field House.
The Colonels are 8-6 overall and 2-2 in the Southern Athletic Association, while the host Stormy Petrels improve to 10-5 overall and 4-1 in-conference.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Oglethorpe began the game on a tear, connecting on five of its first seven 3-point attempts to lead 25-9 after just six minutes of game play.
- The Colonels settled in and responded with 22-5 run of their own, taking a 31-30 advantage after a layup from
Dustin Gerald with five minutes left in the half.
- Gerald hit all six of his shots in the opening half and had 12 points by the intermission, but a late run from Oglethorpe had the home side ahead 42-36 through one period.
- A four-point play to start the half put the Petrels back up by double figures, but again the Colonels managed to climb back within one possession. Centre hit four 3-pointers – including a pair from
Noah Ring – and trailed 61-58 midway through the frame.
- The Petrels had one final push, however, closing the game by out-scoring the Colonels 24-11.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Gerald led Centre with 16 points, shooting 8-for-10 from the field. He's scored in double digits in all 12 games he's played in this season.

RJ Smith (14 points, 10 rebounds) and
Chez Moore (13 points, 11 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles. It was Smith's six of the season and Moore's second.
- Both teams shot 44% overall, but the Petrels hit 12 3-pointers to the Colonels' six.

Marshall Taylor led the team with three assists.
- Dimitri Chambers scored 26 to pace the Stormy Petrels.
