Colonels snap skid with 64-53 win over Hendrix

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre women's basketball team returned to Alumni Gym after two weeks on the road and defeated the Hendrix Warriors by a score of 64-53, snapping a four-game losing skid.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- Presley Chirico set the tone for the Colonels, scoring the game's first six points. Katelyn Stiltner scored the next two buckets for Centre on putbacks to give Centre a 10-6 lead. Bailey Rucker grabbed an offensive rebound and converted a three-point play to put the Colonels on top 13-8 at the end of one period.
- In the second quarter, Chirico picked up where she left off, hitting jumpers on Centre's first two trips. The Warriors switched to a 1-3-1 zone to slow down Centre's inside game, but Payton Herold knocked down three three-pointers in the quarter to maintain a 30-23 lead at the break.
- The Colonels extended their lead to as many as 13 points in the third quarter following layups by Emma Rose Vincent and Natalie Duggins. Hendrix scored seven straight to cut the lead to six, but Chirico stemmed the tide with a jumper that put Centre up 42-34 after three periods.
- Hendrix chipped away at a 12-point Centre lead midway through the fourth quarter, but the Centre defense held the Warriors at bay while the Colonels took advantage at the free throw line to win by 11.
