Colonels visit Sewanee in regular season finale

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Before the Centre women's soccer team (13-3, 5-2 SAA) made their way to the Southern Athletic Assocation (SAA) Tournament next weekend, they first needed to face off against the Sewanee Tigers (10-4, 6-1 SAA) in a regular season finale. The Tigers got the best of the Colonels to end the regular season, Centre falling on a 2-1 final score.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Sewanee began the game with an aggressive offensive push, taking the first couple shots within three minutes of the game. Senior goalkeeper Jonelle Barron would prevent the Tigers from taking the lead, saving a shot in the bottom-center side of the net in the third minute of action.
- After the two teams traded punches for over 30 minutes, Lydia Bowling broke the ice by scoring the game's first goal before halftime. The header came way by Jess Inman, Inman firing the pass in front of Bowling for a score.
- The Tigers didn't hold back after halftime, scoring two goals in less than three minutes in the second half to take the lead in the contest.
- The Gold and White fought tooth and nail until the final buzzer, Alexis Kronenthal finding a good look at Sewanee's net on a shot that would eventually be saved by the keeper.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Inman's assist credited from Bowling's goal marks her first of the season, also being noted as the first of her career at Centre.
- Bowling's header into the net is her second goal of the season, both coming within the last five games of the regular season.
- Barron's three saves marks the seventh time this season the senior has totaled more saves than goals allowed in a single game, ending the regular season with 20 in total.
- Centre's four shots in the 90-minute contest is the lowest they've totaled all season, the first time they've tallied single digits in the statistical category.
