FERRUM, Va. – Centre women's basketball dropped their first contest of the season Sunday afternoon. The Colonels entered the second half even with the Eagles before faltering to a 20-point deficit.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Before the Colonels could place a basket, the Eagles took an early six-point lead. A jumper from
Natalie Duggins paired with a duo of layups from Makya Grinter and
Bailey Rucker would put Centre right back in the game.

Bailey Rucker managed two consecutive baskets to give the Colonels a four-point advantage over the Eagles, their only lead of the game. The two teams would trade baskets for the remainder of the first two quarters where at halftime, the score would sit at a tied 21 points each.
- Entering the third period, the Eagles rattled off 13 unanswered points, giving them the upper hand nearing the final quarter.

Payton Herold broke the dry spell, hitting a three with seconds remaining in the third but it wasn't enough to put the Colonels back in the game.
- Bridgewater would trail away in the final period. Landing three consecutive baskets, the Eagles stretched their lead to as much as 21 points.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- At the line, Centre put together 11 of their 14 free throw attempts while Bridgewater went 1 - 2.
- Centre possessed 20 turnovers to Bridgewater's 15.
- Rucker led the team with 10 points, adding three rebounds and a perfect 4-4 at the line.
- Centre out-rebounded Bridgewater 31 - 28.
Emma Rose Vincent lead the Colonels with seven rebounds,
Natalie Duggins was just behind her with six.
