Field Hockey wins their third SAA Conference Title in five years

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre field hockey took on Rhodes College for their second meeting in just two weeks. In their last competition, Rhodes trounced the Colonels by a score of 8-0. On Sunday, Centre field hockey sought revenge, eliminating the Lynx to become the 2022 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Champions. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Rhodes initiated the scoring. Just eight minutes into the game, the Lynx marked a goal after being award a penalty corner opportunity.
- Evening the score, sophomore Peyton Gahm placed one in after a set-up from Emily Ritchie
- Out of halftime, both Centre and Rhodes kept an exceedingly tight game, the next goal wouldn't come until late in the fourth quarter.
- With just two minutes remaining, senior Olivia Broyles had a break away up the far side of the field. She placed the game winning goal, unassisted, to solidify the Colonels as the 2022 SAA Conference Champions. Broyles would go on to be the 2022 SAA Tournament Most Valuable Player. 
- Meghan Speth had a dominant performance in the championship game. Proving to be a utility player for the Colonels, Speth found herself on the SAA All-Tournament Team. Caroline Page and Peyton Gahm would join the junior on the SAA All-Tournament Team. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre and Rhodes both had an impressive defensive performance. Erin Bozdech, SAA Defensive Player of the Year, tallied a defensive save for the Colonels. In the goal, Carlie McKenry put up two saves, halting the Lynx at just one goal. 
- Both opponents matched one another in the offensive circle. Rhodes and Centre took six shots each. 
- In penalty corners, Centre just edged out Rhodes, possessing five to their three.
