DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's basketball dropped its regular season finale Sunday against Oglethorpe, 92-73, in Southern Athletic Association action inside Alumni Gymnasium.
The Colonels (11-11, 5-7 SAA) led by 11 points in the second half before the Stormy Petrels (16-6, 10-2) reeled off a devastating 28-0 run to claim the victory.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Oglethorpe came out swinging, knocking down a flurry of early 3-pointers to force a Centre timeout less than two minutes into the contest.
- The Petrels led by as many as 12 points at 20-8 before the Colonels mounted a comeback, sparked in part by
Chez Moore's offensive effort and Williams' hustle on the glass.
- Despite trailing by a dozen points, the Colonels outscored the Petrels 27-12 from the midpoint on to lead 43-35 by halftime. Gerald, Smith and Moore had seven points each during that span.
- Centre opened up its largest lead of the game at 48-37 early in the second half following a 3-pointer from Smith.
- Smith converted a layup near the 14-minute mark that put the Colonels up 56-46, but the Petrels went on a remarkable 28-0 run over the next six minutes. Oglethorpe hit 10 of 13 shots during the game-altering stretch, including five from long range.
- The visitors' lead was too great to overcome in the final stages of the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Smith finished with 23 points and eight rebounds for the Colonels, while Gerald had 13 points and eight boards. Williams hit a trio of 3-pointers and totaled 13 points, as well.
- Oglethorpe knocked down 18 threes and hit 14 of 16 from the free throw line.
- The Petrels also had a 19-9 advantage in points off turnovers.

Carter Baughman matched Smith with a team-high four assists.

Centre begins the SAA Tournament next weekend on the road with an opponent and start time still to be determined.
