Gerald nets career-high 33 in road win at Millsaps

JACKSON, Miss. – Senior Dustin Gerald dropped 33 points Sunday at Millsaps, helping Centre win by a 66-56 score inside the Hangar Dome in Southern Athletic Association action.

The senior went 15-for-23 from the floor, adding nine rebounds and six assists in helping the Colonels (11-9, 5-5 SAA) complete the season sweep over the Majors (3-17, 1-9).

HIGHLIGHTS
- As he's done multiple times this season, Gerald provided much of the early offense for the Colonels, scoring nine of the team's first 11 points.
- Centre maintained a lead for most of the first half, jumping ahead by double digits for the first time near the four-minute mark on a layup from Drew Wilson.
- Gerald totaled 15 points on seven field goals in the half, and fellow senior RJ Smith added 10 – including a pair of 3-pointers – to help the Colonels take a 36-27 lead into the break.
- Six minutes into the second half, Gerald hit a bucket to push Centre's lead to 47-33, but a quick 8-0 run from the home side brought it back to a two-possession contest.
- Centre called a timeout to slow down the Majors, and Gerald drained a 3-pointer out of the break. Two minutes later, he assisted on a triple from Smith.
- Although the Majors kept it close, Gerald and Co. proved to be too much as Centre secured the win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Smith finished with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Chez Moore followed with 13 points and seven boards.

- Centre finished 48% (27-56) overall, holding Millsaps to a 35% (23-66) effort. The Majors hit only 3 of 21 from long range.
- The Colonels held a 41-29 rebounding advantage.
