JACKSON, Miss. – Centre women's basketball got behind early at Millsaps, ultimately falling by a 55-45 final inside the Hangar Dome.
The Colonels slide to 8-14 overall and 5-6 in the Southern Athletic Association while the host Majors level the season series and improve to 9-12 (4-6 SAA).
HIGHLIGHTS
- Millsaps grabbed control of the game in the opening quarter, keeping Centre without a point for over four minutes before taking a 13-8 advantage into the second period. Six of the Colonels' eight came from a pair of
Piper Hensley 3-pointers.
- A 10-0 run from the Majors to begin the second had the Colonels trailing by 15 points. Centre fell behind by 20 points near the end of the half before a last-second bucket from
Bailey Rucker made it 34-16 heading to the break.
- Centre began to claw back toward the end of the third frame, going on an 11-3 run that made it 45-33 with 10 minutes remaining.
- Hensley knocked down a 3-pointer to start the fourth quarter and bring the Colonels back to single digits. The Majors responded with an 8-2 stretch, however, putting an end to Centre's comeback bid.

- Hensley led Centre with a career-high 12 points, hitting four 3-pointers.
- Rucker and
Natalie Duggins followed with eight points apiece.
- Centre had 11 turnovers in the first half but had just five in the second. The Colonels defense forced 20 Millsaps turnovers.
- Millsaps finished with a 33-26 rebounding advantage.
Emma Rose Vincent led Centre with nine boards.
