HANVOVER, Ind. – The Centre baseball team played in its fourth game in three days as the Colonels traveled to Hanover and fell to the host Panthers by a score of 5-4.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels struck first in the opening inning as three consecutive singles by
Karson Thompson,
Jordan Gunter and
Josh Cunningham resulted in a pair of Centre runs.
- Hanover got the runs right back in their half of the first, tying the score at 2-2 after three walks and an error.
- The Panthers added three more runs in the third on a two-run homer and an RBI groundout to build a 5-2 advantage.
- Centre struggled with runners in position in the middle innings, stranding runners on the corners in the fifth and runners on second and third in the sixth.
- In the ninth, the Centre bats recharged.
Jamie Laframboise,
Conner Jackson and
Mark Pyburn hit consecutive singles to plate a run for the Colonels. The runners advanced and then Jackson scored on a RBI groundout by Gunter, cutting the deficit to 5-4 with the tying run on third, but that was as close as it got as the Hanover bullpen prevented the Colonels from completing the comeback.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Six of Centre's nine hits came in the first and ninth innings. Laframboise was the only Centre player to finish with multiple hits.

Luc Morgan was fantastic for the Colonels on the mound, pitching five innings of scoreless long relief while striking out six and only allowing four baserunners.
