Women’s lacrosse battle against Lynx at home

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre women's lacrosse team (6-6, 2-2 SAA) came back in action from the spring break season on Saturday, hosting the Rhodes Lynx (10-3, 4-0 SAA) on South Turf Field. The Colonels battled hard against the reigning conference champions, but the slow start halted the Gold and White in the 23-7 loss.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels couldn't muster any offense in the first 15 minutes of action, the Lynx holding them scoreless in the first period. Rhodes led after the first period with an 11-0 lead.
- Centre was able to garner some momentum in the second period, rattling off four-straight unanswered goals in a span of less than five minutes. Ella Treinen led the charge for the Gold and White during the stretch, the sophomore netting a pair of goals (one being from the free position).
- The Colonels were able to strike another score from the free position in the third period of action, freshman Haley Rice taking the shot after a Rhodes foul.
- Isa Stumpf was able to strike first to give some momentum to Centre in the final period, scoring 61 seconds into the fourth.
- Lily Gahm was the final Colonel to claim a goal on the stat sheet, the 2021 SAA Newcomer of the Year creating some room on an unassisted score.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Bri Hendricks' three ground balls collected marks a career-high for the junior. The Louisville, Ky., native has had three other games this season where she gathered a pair in a single contest.
- The Lynx put up 41 shots against the Colonels' goal, the second time a team has put up 40 or more in a single contest.
- Goalkeeper Lola Duff's 11 saves marks the sixth time this season the senior has double-digit saves in a single game.

UP NEXT
The Colonels will recollect and quickly prepare for their next contest on Wednesday, April 6, hosting Transylvania for a second-straight home contest. The game at South Turf Field is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.
