ROME, Ga. - The Centre women's tennis team wrapped up its regular season on Sunday with a match against the Berry Vikings. The Colonels lost to the Vikings by a score of 5-1, finishing the regular season with an 11-10 record.
In doubles, the Colonels lost the first two matches. At the no. 1 position,
Katharine Sherman and
Hannah Doherty lost 8-0, followed by an 8-3 loss by
Ella Rueff and
Lainey Hill at no. 2. Centre avoided the sweep in doubles at the no. 3 position as the team of
Caroline Lancaster and
Maddy Trinh took the win by a score of 8-6, setting the stage for singles competition.
Trailing 2-1 after doubles, The Colonels fell behind 3-1 when Hill lost her singles match at no. 4, 6-2, 6-3. The no. 1 singles match was the next to finish up, and Sherman took a 6-1, 7-5 defeat. Rueff won the first set of her no. 3 singles match 6-1, but lost the next two by scores of 6-2 and 6-0 for the match clinching point for Berry.

Centre tennis will travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn. next week for the Southern Athletic Association Tournament. The tournament bracket will be released later this week.
