Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Jake Renie, Assistant Athletic Director for Communications

Second-half rally not enough for the Colonels

WILMINGTON, Ohio. – The Centre men's soccer team (0-2) took off for their second-straight game in Ohio on Saturday afternoon, taking on the Wilmington Quakers (1-1). The second-half push by the Gold and White wouldn't surpass the Quakers, falling on a final score of 2-1.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels took plenty of shots in the first 19 minutes of action, totaling seven across five different student-athletes. Four of the seven attempts resulted in saves for Wilmington.
- Wilmington would strike first with a score in the 22nd minute of the first half.
- The Quakers kicked off the second half in similar fashion, sinking a score for a two-goal lead in the 54th minute.
- About 10 minutes later, Finnegan Deem-Ranzetta would find a open look off of Zeke Saviello's corner kick to crack the egg in the Colonels' score.
- Centre would get two more attempts at the goal before the end of the contest, one from Drew Davidson and another from Sota Ippongi that both resulted in saves.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The duo of freshman who were credited for Centre's goal, Deem-Ranzetta and Saviello, marks the two's first goal and assist in their Colonel career.
- The Gold and White's 10 shots on goal is the first time they achieved a double-digit number in the stat since their win against Adrian a year ago exactly.
- The Colonels' 11 corner kicks marks the highest the program has had in a single game since they tied Berea on Sept. 1 last season.
