DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre volleyball team won its third consecutive game as they rallied in the second set and maintained the momentum to defeat the Hanover Panthers in four sets in Alumni Gym.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The opening set was back and forth the entire way, with neither team ever leading by more than three points. Hanover broke a 16-16 tie with three consecutive points, and while Centre cut the deficit to one point four times the rest of the way, they were unable to get over the hump and Hanover won by a score of 25-22.
- The Panthers grabbed the early lead in the second set, leading by as much as eight points. Facing a 20-13 deficit, the Colonels scored nine of the next ten points as
Ally Knueven delivered two aces and
Brooke Palmer had two kills during the rally. Hanover scored the next three to take a 24-22 lead and put the Colonels' backs against the wall, but Centre responded as
Josie Grace-Mudd and Palmer came through with consecutive kills to force a set point at 25-24. The Panthers tied the score at 25-25 before Centre rallied for the final two points to tie the match with a dramatic 27-25 win.
- In the third set, the Colonels dominated, taking an early 12-3 lead as
June Padilla and
Madi Barron combined for five aces during the early stretch. Centre never looked back from the hot start, stretching the lead throughout the set as
Emily Goddin put home the clinching kill on a 25-12 gold and white victory.
- The fourth set looked to be a copy of the first as the Colonels went up 8-1, capped off by consecutive kills from Knueven. While the Panthers eventually collected themselves and made it close, Centre never trailed the rest of the way, winning 25-18 to seal the match.

Isabel Thornton led all players with ten kills, as Knueven finished with nine and Grace-Mudd and Goddin each had eight kills, highlighting yet another balanced attack for the Colonels.
- The Colonels held a 42-28 edge in assists as
Emily Gardner and
Meredith Phillips combined for 36.
- Centre had by far its best day of serving for the young season as the Colonels finished with 13 aces. Barron led the way with five, followed by Padilla with four and Knueven with three. Centre had seven aces in the third set.
- Barron finished with a game high 24 digs, with Knueven and Padilla each finishing in double digits. Centre held an 80-70 advantage over the Panthers in digs.
- The Colonels hit .370 as a team during the third set, by far the highest percentage by either team during the match.
