Centre overcomes Millsaps to remain top ranked in the SAA

JACKSON, Miss. – The Colonels traveled south to take on Southern Athletic Association's (SAA) Millsaps College. After a fierce battle, Centre remains undefeated in conference play, bettering the Majors by a score of 57-52.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Majors were the first to score, netting a lay-up just seconds into the game. The Colonels wouldn't score until two minutes later when Natalie Duggins hit a jumper followed by a three from Payton Herold in the next possession. The two teams would trade baskets for most of the quarter until Herold drained a jumper with seconds remaining, giving Centre a one-point edge entering the second period.
- Bailey Rucker opened the second quarter with a three-pointer, hitting yet another long ball less than a minute later. Both teams would suffer from nearly a three-minute scoring drought before the Colonels went on a 7-2 run to close the quarter.
- Out of half, Piper Hensley netted one from behind the arc followed by a lay-up from Duggins. Centre's defensive halted the Majors at just seven total points in the third quarter. Entering the last quarter, the score sat at Centre 41, Millsaps 28.
-In the final period of play, Millsaps quickly chipped away at Centre's 13-point lead. After the Majors went on a 12-2 run, the Colonels were forced to call a time-out to slow Millsap's momentum. Out of the break, Centre found their footing as Rucker and Makya Grinter nailed back-to-back threes. In the final two minutes, the Majors found themselves in foul trouble, subsequently putting the Colonels at the line. Rucker went 5-5, solidifying a Colonel victory with a score of Centre 57, Millsaps 52.
