DANVILLE, Ky. – After a second quarter stall, the Centre women's basketball team rallied to sweep their season series with Millsaps.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels held the lead in the opening minutes after going on a 7-2 score run to open the game. Centre answered nearly every Millsaps basket with two of their own, putting the score at 21-12 entering the second quarter.
- Openign the period nine points behind the Colonels, the Majors stuck hot, landing 19 unanswered points before Centre would place one. The Colonels found their first baskets in the final minute of the quarter. A lay-up from
Natalie Duggins followed by a jumper from
Katelyn Stiltner closed the half with a score of Millsaps 33, Centre 25.
- Trailing the Majors by eight, the Colonels quickly chipped away at the opposing's lead, taking a 9-0 run three minutes into the quarter. A late coast-to-coast lay-up from
Payton Herold put Centre within one possession of Millsaps.
- Seconds into the final quarter, a quick long ball from
Bailey Rucker set the tone for Centre's final quarter. Leading up to the media time-out, both teams were trading a one-point lead. Emma-Rose Vincent eventually set the Colonels three points ahead of the Majors with two consecutive jumpers.
- With a minute remaining, the score sat at Centre 57, Millsaps 54. After the Colonels milked down their possession clock, Herold grabbed a huge offensive rebound that kept the ball with Centre. In the same possession,
Makya Grinter was put on the line. Making both of her free-throws, she finalized the score at Centre 59, Millsaps 55.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre had two players in the double digits.
Natalie Duggins put up 18, adding seven rebounds, a steal, and four assists.
Bailey Rucker was the second Colonel in the double figures with 11 points. She added five rebounds, one block, one steal, and an assist.

Makya Grinter tied the program's current record of seven steals in a single game. She supplemented her steals with eight points, four assists, and five rebounds.
- The Colonels had 11 steals compared to the Majors eight. From those 11 steals, Centre gathered nine fast-break points.
- Out rebounding Millsaps 36-27, the Colonels put up 14 second chance points.
- Centre obtained a free-throw shot percentage of 75 after going 12-16 at the line.
