DANVILLE, Ky- On Sunday morning, the Colonels took to South Turf for what proved to be their lengthiest battle of the season thus far. The Big Red were able to put together the game's first goal, but the Colonels would answer in the fourth quarter, forcing the game into sudden death. In the second overtime period, Claire Martin notched her second game-winning goal of the year to solidify the Colonels' third overtime victory of their 2023 campaign.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels controlled much of the possession in the game's opening period, taking six shots while Denison was unable to manage one. Opening the second quarter, the Big Red stepped up their offensive pressure and nearly matched the Colonels in shot attempts but neither team would manage a goal before halftime.
- Out of the break, the score remained tied at 0-0 but the Big Red would eventually claim the first goal late in the third period. With two minutes left in regulation, Peyton Gahm put the Colonels on the board with the helper coming from Claire Martin. When time ran out, the score showed a tie at even ones, forcing the game into a sudden death, overtime period.
- In the first overtime period, the Colonels dominated offensively but Denison's keeper would keep the Big Red alive with a quad of saves. As the game remained tied at 1-1, the two teams entered another overtime period. The game came to a close moments into the second overtime period as Martin notched her second game-winning goal of the season. After completing a breakaway goal up field, Centre bettered the Big Red by a score of 2-1.

- Martin and Gahm tied for the game's leading scorers, each having one goal apiece. Martin led the game in assists with one. After Sunday's victory, Martin is tied with Meghan Speth for most game-winning goals this season (2).
-The Colonels have now had three games go into at least one overtime period, and each time, Centre field hockey rises as the victors.
- In goal Carlie McKenry stopped three of the Big Red's shots.
-Centre had the advantage in corners, having ten to the opposing's four.
