DANVILLE, Ky. – On Sunday morning, Centre field hockey hosted the No. 6 ranked Christopher Newport Captains. Facing a fierce competitor, the Colonels ultimately fell by a score of 6-0, moving to a 7-8 overall record.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
-The Captains controlled the possession in the opening quarter, attempting ten shots to the Colonels' zero. CNU eventually opened the game's scoring, placing their first goal just moments into the second period. By halftime, the Captains doubled their hold over the Colonels, making the score CNU two, Centre zero entering halftime.
- Out of the break, the Captains maintained control, collecting one additional goal before heading into the final quarter. Already leading 3-0, CNU wouldn't ease up, tallying three additional goals by the end of regulation. When time ran out, the score read Christopher Newport six, Centre zero.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-The Captains dominated in shots taken, having 45 while the Colonels attempted four.
- In goal, Carlie McKenry put together a career high of 19 saves. Her previous record of 16 was set just last week.
- Olivia Ruth, Claire Martin, Peyton Gahm, and Jackie Rodriguez shared a four-way-tie for Centre's leader in shots taken, each having one apiece.
