Colonels blank Quakers 6-0 in regular season finale

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre field hockey took to South Turf for the final time on Saturday afternoon. Hosting non-conference opponent Earlham, the Colonels put up a staggering six goals to the Quakers' zero. After today's victory, the Colonels improve to a 9-8 overall record and enter the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament as the 2023 SAA Regular Season Champions.  

GAME HIGHLIGHTS    

 - The game's opening goal didn't occur until the second period when Maggie Will claimed the Colonel's first goal during a penalty corner. In the very next minute, rookie Hannah Miller tallied one additional goal to close the first half's scoring at Centre 2, Earlham zero.  
- Out of the halftime break, the Colonels continued to control the game's pace. Claire Martin collected her first point, the Colone's third, just before Will completed the hat-trick with two unanswered goals. Entering the final quarter, Centre held a five-point advantage over Earlham. Centre's Abby Brainard closed the game's scoring with her first collegiate goal, freezing the final score at 6-0, the Gold & White favoring.  
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE    
- Will led the game in goals with three. Brainard, Martin, and Miller each had one goal apiece. Martin fronted the Colonels in shots taken with nine.  
- Centre dominated statistically, amassing 39 shots while the Quakers didn't attempt a shot. 
- The Colonels favored in penalty corner opportunities, having 11 to the opposing's zero.
