Women's basketball trounces Agnes Scott

DECATUR, Ga.- On Saturday, the Centre women's basketball team entered their second game of the Agnes Scott Classic. Facing the Scotties, the Colonels' more than doubled their opponents in points, freezing the final score at 69-27.  

After this weekend's efforts, the Gold & White improved to a 2-0 overall record.  
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS 

- The Colonels controlled the game from the start, netting 13 points before the Scotties would tally a point. Bailey Rucker drained a long ball to open the game's scoring, followed by a flurry of jumpers from the paint. By the end of the first period, Centre held a double-digit lead over Agnes Scott (19-6).  
- The second quarter mirrored the first as Centre opened with a 12-4 scoring run. The Scotties would attempt to slow the Colonels' momentum, but every Agnes Scott basket would be answered with at least two from Centre, bringing the halftime score to 38-14.  
- Out of the break, Agnes Scott claimed the first basket of the half but just after, fell silent. Centre netted 19 unanswered points before the Scotties eventually broke their drought. After seven scoreless minutes from their opponents, the Colonels had stretched their hold to 41 points. 
- Similarly to the three previous periods, Centre women's basketball controlled the pace of the game. Outscoring their opponents 10-7 in the final period, the Colonels claimed their second victory with a final score of 69-27.  
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
- The Colonels had 12 different scorers in today's contest, rookie Lilly Reid leading the field with 13 points. Natalie Duggins and Rucker followed closely behind with ten apiece.
Lindsay Jessie was the only player in double figures for rebounds. The freshman collected ten, adding one free-throw.
- Centre shot 55% from the charity line, going 11-20. From long range, the Gold & White drained six three-pointers.
- Centre dominated in rebounds, taking 51 to the opposing 31. Favoring in second chance points, Centre tallied 25 compared to Agnes Scott's two.
- The Colonels had 12 different scorers in today's contest. 
 
NEXT UP 
Centre women's basketball returns home to host their annual Lee's Famous Recipe/Hampton Inn Classic. They'll host Averett in their home opener on Friday, Nov. 17th, at 7 p.m. ET.
