KANSAS CITY, Mo. –
Lindsay Carr of Centre women's soccer continued to pick up honors as she was named both a Second Team Scholar All-American and an All-South Region Scholar by United Soccer Coaches (USC) on Friday afternoon.
This is the second consecutive year that the Colonels have had at least one honoree on a USC All-Region Scholar team. The West Virginia native is the fifth Scholar All-American honoree for the women's soccer program and 11th All-Region awardee.
Carr was named a USC All-America team honoree earlier this year as well as an All-Region VI First Team selection. The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) awarded the junior Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-SAA nod. Carr was also named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree for her performance in the classroom.
The defender lead a defense that allowed only 0.68 goals per game and held their opponents to a shot percentage of 0.085. In a total of nine matches the stout defense secured a shutout. Carr played in all 19 matches for the Colonels and started all but one, which gave her a tally of 1567 minutes for the season. The junior also tallied a goal and an assist during the 2023 campaign.
To be honored on the national or regional level as a USC Scholar Athlete, nominees must be a junior or above in athletic standing and have at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average. Nominees must also play a minimum of 75 percent of games during the season of nomination and be an elite player as supported by playing honors (i.e., All-American, All-Region, minimum all-conference).
