GREENVILLE, Ill.- The Colonels traveled north for their final contest before entering Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play. After an uneasy opening, Centre outscored the Panthers in the following three periods, solidifying their 10th win of the season.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Panthers dominated the opening period, stifling the Colonels with a full court press. Opening with a 4-0 run, the Panthers quickly nabbed the lead. Natalie Duggins owned Centre's singular basket of the period. Trailing off with 15 unanswered points, the score read 19-2 at the end of the initial period.
- The Colonels quickly found their footing, opening the second quarter with a 17-2 run, nine of which were from Bailey Rucker. In the final two minutes of the half, Anna Thomas drained one from long range to put the Colonels within one possession. Later baskets from Makya Grinter and Lilly Reid left the score tied at even 26s entering halftime.
- Out of the break, the Panthers opened with another 4-0 run but quickly fell silent. Emma Rose Vincent answered with ease, simultaneously kick starting a scoring streak. The Colonels gained their first lead with a 12-0 run, finding notable baskets from both Reid and Rucker. Rendering the Panthers scoreless for much of the quarter, Centre held an eight-point edge entering the final period.
- The Colonels swiftly gained a double-digit lead opening the fourth quarter. Playing with confidence, Centre found seven different shooters for their 17 points of the period. At regulation's end, the Colonels downed the Panthers 55-43, moving to 10-2 overall record.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Rucker was the only Colonel with double-figured points (13). The junior added six rebounds and two assists.
- Vincent led the game in rebounds with eight, adding eight points, one block, and a steal.
- The Colonels favored in rebounds, grabbing 42 to Greenville's 27.
- Centre shot 71 percent from the line, going 5-7.
- The Gold & White dominated from the floor, taking 36 points in the paint, holding the Panthers to just 16.
