DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre baseball capped off its opening series of the season on Sunday as they hosted the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets, ranked no. 10 in the nation in the preseason Division III baseball poll. The Colonels fell to the Jackets by a score of 16-4.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Yellow Jackets got on the board first in the third as three hits and a walk led to three runs.
- In Centre's half of the third,
Jamie Laframboise led off by legging out an infield hit and then stealing second.
Perry Nadreau lined a base hit up the middle to plate Laframboise and put Centre on the board for the first time.
- Baldwin Wallace answered right back with five runs in the fourth to take an 8-1 lead. In Centre's next time at bat,
Will Cline took the first pitch he saw and turned on it for a solo homer.
Ben Prather followed with a double down the right field line and later scored on a single by
Luc Morgan for the second Centre run of the inning.
- From there, the Yellow Jacket bats stayed hot as they scored in four of the last five innings to put the game away.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Cline's solo homer in the fourth was his second round tripper in as many games.
- Cline and Prather each had two of Centre's ten hits on the day.

Matthew Maggard's pinch hit single in the ninth produced the first career RBI for the freshman.

The Colonels will host Penn State-Behrend and Dominican next weekend in tournament action, beginning with a Saturday doubleheader.
