Colonels fall to Vikings in SAA Quarterfinal

ROME, Ga. – The Centre men's basketball team traveled to regular season champion Berry to face the Vikings in SAA Tournament Quarterfinal action. A 15-0 run late in the first half proved to be the biggest difference maker as the Colonels fell by a score of 86-64.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- The Colonels got on the board first as Pete Knochelmann converted a three-point play after a Centre steal. Berry took the lead shortly thereafter and held it for the next few minutes.
- Centre got back into the game thanks to 11 first half points from Cade Stinnett. The freshman buried a three and then Knochelmann scored inside again to tie the score at 24-24.
- Another and-1 by Marshall Taylor knotted the game at 27-27 at the under-8:00 media timeout, but from there, the Colonels went cold and the Vikings scored the next 15. The two teams traded baskets over the final two minutes and Berry went into halftime up 47-32.
- Berry started the second half by scoring the first seven points to go up by 20 for the first time. Blake Stewart hit a three and then Stinnett finished off a rare four-point play, but Centre could get no closer than 16 the rest of the way.
