DANVILLE, Ky. – Coming off a double-win on Saturday, the Centre men's tennis team (3-4) took the court once more this weekend with a battle against Indiana University Southeast on Sunday. The Colonels came away with their third-straight team victory after the match's conclusion, taking down the Grenadiers on a final score of 6-3.
The doubles teams kicked off the event,
Bo Bush and
Ty Bush pushed their win streak to four after Sunday's performance, dominating the no. 1 doubles team on a final score of 8-2.
Jasper Gazzo and
Ben Rueff tag-teamed for a tough battle in the no. 2 spot of the lineup, pushing a close contest in favor of the Colonels 8-7 (4).
Faraz Ghamgosar and
Luke Pellegrino were the final duo of the doubles lineup for Centre, falling at the no. 3 spot 8-5.
The Gold & White took four of the six singles matches,
Brian Graves getting his first win of the season in his first appearance as the team's no. 6 spot on a 6-4, 7-6 (3) final tally.
Jett Anderson came in the match as the team's fifth singles student-athletes, earning a dominant win 6-2, 6-3. Rueff prevailed in a tough first set in the no. 2 slot of the lineup, pushing that momentum through the series for a 7-6, 6-3 win.
Chase Turley was the final Centre point on Sunday by forcing extras against his no. 3 opponent, picking up another win 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Ashton Whitt also forced extras in the no. 4 singles spot, but couldn't muster the win as he fell 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Ty Bush was the final singles match of the night, the team's no. 1 falling on a final score of 6-4, 6-4.
The Colonels will look to continue to extend their win streak through the week, facing off against Midway on Wednesday, March 1 to kick off the new month. That match has a scheduled start time of 4:30 p.m. ET, taking place at home in Danville, Ky.
