Centre falls to Rhodes in SAA Championship game

DANVILLE, Ky. – On Sunday afternoon, the Centre women's basketball team hosted the SAA Tournament Championship game. After a fourth-quarter falter, the Colonels fell to Rhodes by a score of 61-52.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- For the first six minutes of the game, both teams traded a one-point lead. Bailey Rucker broke the pattern with the first three-pointer of the game followed by a made jumper from Emma Rose Vincent. Anna Thomas concluded Centre's 8-0 score run with a long ball off an assist from Rucker.
- Entering the second period, the score sat at 16-9 in Centre's favor. Taylor Garrett initiated the quarter's scoring with a jumper just before Rhodes went on a 7-0 run, putting them within one possession of the Colonels. Centre would land a pair of buckets, but the Lynx would conclude the half's scoring with six unanswered points, going ahead by two.
- Out of halftime, Rhodes turned the ball over after committing a three-second violation. Rucker, taking advantage, tied the game with a jumper in the paint. The Lynx quickly regained the lead, adding an additional lay-up to give them a buffer. The Colonels would eventually even the score, but Rhodes would add 2 additional points with three seconds remaining in the period. 
- Thomas planted a bomb of a three eight seconds into the quarter, swinging the control back to Centre. In response, the Lynx commenced a devastating 12-2 score run that would put them ahead for good. By regulation's end, the score sat at 61-52 in favor of Rhodes College.  
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Gold & White held three players in double-figured points. Rucker fronted the team with 16, Payton Herold followed with 11, and Thomas was just behind her with ten. 
- Natalie Duggins grabbed 12 rebounds, making her the leading Colonel in rebounds.
- The Colonel's five steals assisted to their 13-points off of turnovers.
- Centre favored in fast break points with nine, compared to Rhodes' five.
- The Lynx took advantage in second chance points, possessing six, Centre having none.
