CONWAY, Ark. – Facing the Warriors, the Centre women's basketball team picked up another win on the last of their Southern Athletic Association (SAA) travel contests. Moving to 10-1 in conference, the Colonels remain top seed entering the final week of regular season play.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Warriors took an early lead, hitting a jumper eight seconds in. Answering, Centre's
Piper Hensley sank one in from behind the arc to put the Colonels ahead. After leading for the first four minutes, the Colonels fell quite as Hendrix netted 11 consecutive points. In the final 50 seconds,
Bailey Rucker tallied one in from the paint before
Natalie Duggins hit a late buzzer beater three to shrink the Warrior's lead to four.
- Opening the second quarter, Hendrix fended off the Colonel's, stretching their lead to as much as seven. Nearing the period's end, Rucker pushed the Colonels ahead, netting a three followed by a lay-up in the next possession.
- Entering the second half, Centre's offense ignited, quickly expanding their lead to nine. The Warriors steadily fought back but by quarter's end, the Colonels remained in control with a four-point advantage.
- Late in regulation, Hendrix managed to even the score at 55. With three minutes remaining, the two teams were trading a one-point lead.
Emma Rose Vincent delivered two consecutive baskets that clinched the game. Rucker followed with two made free-throws, securing a 62-57 victory for the Colonels.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Rucker matched her career high with 22 points. Vincent was the next Colonel to break into the double digits with 12.
-The Colonels shot 45 percent from the paint compared to the opposing's 27 percent.
-From the line, Centre sank nine of 13, putting together a shot percentage of 69.
- Out-rebounding Hendrix 46-35, the Colonels nearly doubled the Warriors in defensive rebounds with 33.

The Colonel's will return home to close regular season, hosting Oglethorpe on February 10th and Berry on February 12th. After today's win, Centre women's basketball has secured hosting rights to the SAA Quarterfinals on February 19th.
