DANVILLE, Ky. – Coming off of a big win against Transylvania last weekend, the Centre women's tennis team (5-3, 0-1 SAA) stepped back onto the court again on Friday for a showdown against Berea College. The Colonels completed their first sweep of the season in the match, winning on a final score of 9-0.
The Gold & White posted similar scores in all three of the doubles matches that took place on Friday, setting 8-0 marks on the Mountaineers.
Abby Jamison and
Mamie Sevier were the first to conclude at the no. 2 slot of the lineup,
Lainey Hill and
Ella Rueff manning the no. 1 team to finish right behind them. The final series to conclude was in the no. 3 spot, commanded by
Sophie Maddux and
Skylar Keesee.
The Colonels had four identical scores in the singles series that commenced,
Maddy Trinh heading the way in the no. 1 slot of the lineup with a 6-0, 6-0 final score.
Kayla Harger got in the match on Friday at the no. 3 spot on a similar score, freshman teammate
Grace Williams earning a 6-0, 6-0 victory as well in the no. 2 spot. Keesee was the final true sweep of the six singles matches that went on, playing in the no. 6 match. Jamison posted a dominant 6-1, 6-0 score in the no. 4 spot, Maddux rounding out the matches on Friday with a 6-0, 6-1 score as the team's no. 5.
Centre will get back on the courts during the College's spring break period, taking a trip out to Texas to compete in three matches before coming back to Kentucky. The first of their three stops will be against Concordia, that match kicking off at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 18.
