Men’s tennis hits win streak after Hendrix win

DANVILLE, Ky. – After earning a big win against Midway to cap off last weekend, the Centre men's tennis team (6-8, 1-1 SAA) matched up against the Hendrix Warriors on Saturday in the Seabury Family Tennis Center. The Colonels also claimed their first Southern Athletic Association win after the day's result, falling in favor of the Gold & White on a 7-2 final score.

The Gold & White started hot after the doubles contests, claiming the advantage on a 2-1 score. Faraz Ghamgosar and Ben Rueff garnered the team's first point in the team's no. 2 spot of the lineup, earning the win on an 8-5 final score. Ashton Whitt and Jasper Gazzo fought tooth-and-nail for the team's advantage in their 8-7 (6) final score, finding the win in the no. 3 slot of the order. Ty Bush and Chase Turley would almost get Centre the sweep, but fall as the team's no. 1 on a final score of 8-7 (3).

Centre would push heavy pressure in the singles matches, Whitt posting the most dominant two-set win in a 6-0, 6-1 score as the no. 4 spot of the lineup. Ghamgosar wouldn't be too far behind at the no. 2, winning his match on a 6-1, 6-1 score for the Gold & White. Rueff would follow up with a second set that would shut out his Warrior opponent, winning off the final score of 6-2, 6-0 in the no. 3 spot. The final two-set point for Centre would stem from the no. 5 spot, Gazzo garnering the win on a 6-3, 6-3 final score. Jett Anderson would put together a quick one-set score to grab the final point for the Colonels, rounding out the lineup in an 8-0 shutout. Bush would fall in the no. 1 spot of the lineup, falling 6-2, 6-3.

The Colonels will take on the Rhodes Lynx before the weekend's conclusion, taking place on campus on Sunday, April 2. The two programs will face off around 11 a.m. ET, following the result of the women's match prior.
