Baseball falls late in Tuesday-night showdown

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Coming back to Kentucky after their weekend trip south, the Centre baseball team (24-12) moved up north to take on Spalding for a midweek match on Tuesday night. The Golden Eagles pushed a late surge on the Colonels, losing on a final score of 7-2.
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre fell in a hole early, giving up a quick solo homerun in the first inning of play.
- The Gold & White would strike back to even the count in the top of the third inning, Dillon Di Iorio sending a ball to right-center field for two bases, pushing Jamie Laframboise home from second base.
- Spalding would trade with a run in the fourth, jumping ahead by one run.
- The game reached a tie once again in the top of the sixth inning, Mark Pyburn capitalizing on a Golden Ealges mistake on a ball hit by Chase Austin.
- Centre would earn an error of their own in the bottom of the sixth inning, the error driving in three runs off of one hit to reclaim the lead, keeping it the rest of the way. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Freshman Evan Weyler has had a hot bat at the plate, collecting five hits in the last seven at bats after the Colonels' game versus Spalding.
- Di Iorio's RBI on Tuesday marked his 24th of the season, the senior continuing his career-high mark.
- Centre's eight hits marks the sixth time in 10 games that the squad has compiled eight or more hits in a single game. 

UP NEXT
The Colonels will head back to campus and prepare for their final conference matchup of the regular season, taking on the Berry Vikings on Friday, April 21. They'll compete in a one-Friday, two-Saturday format, celebrating Senior day in the first game on Saturday. The Friday first pitch will take place at 6 p.m. ET.
