Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – After sweeping the weekend and picking up their fourth set of Southern Athletic Association (SAA) weekly honors, the Centre men's tennis team (11-9, 3-2 SAA) started their final three road contests with a trip east to Campbellsville. The Colonels emerged victorious against the Tigers in the Tuesday-night showdown, earning their fifth win in a row off a 6-3 final score.
The Gold & White got the ball rolling by picking up an advantage in doubles, almost coming away with a full three-game sweep.
Bo Bush and
Ty Bush claimed another win at the top of the lineup, taking a 6-3 score to give Centre the first team point.
Faraz Ghamgosar and
Ben Rueff grabbed their sixth win in a row as a duo, finishing soon after on a similar 6-3 score in the no. 2 spot of the lineup. The final no. 3 pair wouldn't come up with a victory, but
Jett Anderson and
Jasper Gazzo would fight tooth-and-nail in the 7-6 (3) showdown to round out the doubles matches on Tuesday.
The Colonels only needed four of the six singles matches to conclude before picking up their fifth team point on the night.
Chase Turley stepped onto the court as Centre's no. 6 man with the most dominant score of the night, posting a 6-3, 6-1 win. The Gold & White's final three wins all included tiebreakers, the first being Anderson's no. 5 match that was done in two sets. Both of those sets reached tiebreaker marks, the sophomore coming out on top 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2).
Bo Bush had a three-set series at the no. 3 spot of the lineup, earning the victory on a 6-2, 3-6, 11-9 score. The no. 4 series was the final Centre point of the night, Rueff fending off his Tiger opponent on the 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 win.
Ty Bush had his second set fell into a tiebreaker, but would ultimately fall short in the 6-3, 7-6 (4) no. 2 loss. Ghamgosar was the final match of the night, falling 6-1, 6-5 in the final spot.
Head Coach
Currie Martin will look to take the momentum from his first Centre win against Campbellsville into their final weekend of the season, traveling south to Millsaps and Birmingham Southern. They'll first take on the Majors on Saturday, April 2, the first serves starting at 12 PM ET.
