Lynx best Colonels at home

DANVILLE, Ky. – After taking down the Hendrix Warriors just the day before, the Centre women's tennis team (6-5, 1-2 SAA) took on another Southern Athletic Association opponent on Sunday morning. The program faced off against the Rhodes Lynx, who ran hot during the singles matches to defeat the Colonels 8-1.

The lone point for the Gold & White on the day came way of the no. 3 doubles spot of the lineup, Maddy Trinh and Kayla Harger combining for their sixth win of the season together. The duo continued their three-match streak off the 8-6 final score. The final two doubles matches had the same score (8-3) in favor of the Lynx, Lainey Hill and Ella Rueff running the top of the lineup while Carlie Mitchell and Grace Williams played at the no. 2 slot.

Rhodes claimed all the singles points during the second half of the contest, but several series were close and forced a third set during the match. Rueff's no. 1 series match was one of the aforementioned, the final score 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Hill was able to have a strong second set to force overtime in the 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 final score, playing the no. 2 spot for Centre. The no. 5 slot of the lineup hosted a battle up until the last serve with Grace Williams at the no. 3, the series running in a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (8) final score. Mitchell fell in the no. 3 order of the roster, her score posted being 6-1, 6-4. Trinh was unable to collect a person sweep of the Lynx in her battle at the no. 4 spot, falling 6-4, 6-2. The final series in singles was at the no. 6, Kayla Harger being defeated 6-2, 6-0.

The Colonels will look to regroup and regain their momentum before their next contest, playing in a pair of non-conference games this upcoming week. They'll first take on Asbury, staying at home from the 4:30 p.m. ET match on Wednesday, April 5.
